My kids are growing like weeds. The clothes that fit them well last month are getting a bit short. Thank goodness we only have a few more weeks until the weather really starts to change. Surely they can get by with alternating two pair of pants 🙂
Since we’re cleaning the children’s room(s) this week, let’s tackle their clothes today. Let’s “Spring Clean” the kid’s clothes!
Spring Cleaning Kid’s Clothes and Closet
Since our children grow so quickly, they are continually getting new clothes. Before long, their closet can get out of control! That is, if we’re not deliberate with removing clothes they’ve outgrown. Today we’re going to talk about how to sort, organize, and transfer your child’s seasonal clothes…any time of the year.
GATHER YOUR SUPPLIES >>>
SET A TIMER >>>
The goal is to do a little bit of work now so we don’t have as much to do later. Set your timer for 5, 10, even 15 minutes. Then work as quickly as you can to beat the clock!
SPRING CLEAN YOU CHILD’S CLOTHES >>>
I want to encourage you to go through your children’s clothes today. Even if you are Use your decluttering toolkit to go through each non-clothing item in your kids’ closet(s) today…especially if you didn’t tackle this area in day 2.
Then, I want to encourage you to thoroughly review each clothing item.
1. First, get a box or basket for each child and put it in their room.
As you go through their dresser and closet, look for clothing that doesn’t fit, doesn’t match anything, or that they just don’t like and put those items in the box.
2. If the box is still fairly empty, leave it in the closet.
Add to it immediately as they outgrow clothing items.(That’s the hard part for me. But having a dedicated spot to put those clothes sure does help.) Subsequently, as the weather changes, you’ll have a place to put those seasonal clothes they’ll never be able to wear again
3. When the box is full…
label and store for the next child in line, tag it for a consignment sale, price it for a yard sale, or take it to the nearest donation center.
